First of all, you are talking with a IMAP server as the greeting
message shows.

 |USER popuser%example.org@exampleserver..
 |USER BAD LOGIN user@host first.
 |USER popuser@example.org%pop.exampleserver.org
 |USER BAD LOGIN user@host first.

These pattern work for POP but not for IMAP.

 |USER popuser@example.org@exampleserver..
 |USER BAD LOGIN user@host first.

This pattern should work both for POP and IMAP.

You need to talk with a POP server.
